Croatia holidays: Last chance to see Zagreb Time Machine

Croatia holidays: Last chance to see Zagreb Time Machine Britons thinking of booking a last-minute Croatia holiday could be just in time to see the closing days of the Zagreb Time Machine.

Starting in April each year, the streets of the city become a hub of historical stories about the country's past, with an array of events happening to celebrate the traditions of Croatia.

Visit the city's Upper Town, home to many of Zagreb's oldest buildings, and you might stumble upon a horse drawn carriage, a woman in a baroque outfit or some suspicious looking kidnappers – all part of the participatory show detailing Zagreb's past.

"You are certain to come across characters that made Zagreb famous – singers of old parlour ballads, bohemians or peasant women from the village of Sestine," the organisers said.

The Zagreb Time Machine closes on September 24th.

Travel writer Simon Calder recently said in the Independent thatnow may be the best time to book a trip to Croatia, as the destination will be less busy and air fares will have dropped, but the climate in the Adriatic will still allow Brits to soak up some sun.
