Prince Harry among 188,000 British visitors to Croatia

Prince Harry among 188,000 British visitors to Croatia A newspaper report has revealed that around 188,000 Brits enjoyed Croatia holidays during the first eight months of 2011. The report came from the Croatian Times, who also discovered that visitors spent around 130 euros a day on average, with many enjoying festivals or sailing holidays in Croatia.

Arguably the most famous of these visitors arrived in late August, when Prince Harry made UK headlines while out partying in the popular Croatia sailing destination of Hvar.

The Daily Mail report on the visit highlighted the growing trend among Brits in Croatia with the Prince visiting as part of a mini break with friends and flying by low cost airline.

English tourists currently dominate Croatian air travel, with Dubrovnik airport catering for a record amount of UK visitors during 2011.

According to a report published last month, UK visitors accounted for 20 per cent of travellers on international flights.

In comparison, the closer nations of Germany and Italy accounted for just 11.1 per cent and 6.2 per cent of airport visitors to the region in 2011 respectively.
