A Serbian diversion for Exit festival is a cultural treat on Croatia tours

A trip to the Exit music festival on a quick diversion to Serbia during a Croatia tour is a great way to enjoy the region's mix of music and culture.

Gordana Plamenec, chief executive of the National Tourism Organisation of Serbia, highlighted the benefits of a visit to the country as part of a Croatia tour in the region.

Speaking at London's World Travel Market on November 8th 2011, Mr Plamenec highlighted the impressive array of summer music festivals available to visitors.

"We are very famous for over a thousand events including music events, festivals headed by Exit of course," he said.

Last year's Exit music festival featured an impressive line-up of globally recognised acts including Pulp, Jamiroquai and Arcade Fire.

Fans of dance music festivals like Hideout would have been impressed too with Portishead, Santigold and M.I.A also featuring on last year's Exit bill.

But while Mr Plamenec was keen to talk up the festivals, he also admitted that Serbia offers an impressive "cultural itinerary".

The tourism chief pointed to Serbia's array of sites "from ancient Roman emperors through to hero monuments, monasteries and fortresses, as well as contemporary art and museums."

All of which could make perfect stop off during a Croatia tour this summer.
