Dubrovnik and Opatija named top Croatia holiday destinations for a New Year’s party

The Adriatic cruise capitals of Opatija and Dubrovnik have been named as Croatia’s most attractive cities for a New Year’s celebration in a recent survey.

According to guide2Croatia, researchers canvassed representatives from the Croatian Travel Agencies Association, who in turn pointed to the two cities as the most attractive in the Balkans region.

Situated in the Gulf of Kvarner, near the Ucka mountain, Opatija is as picturesque a setting as you are likely to find in Croatia.

Surrounded by the imposing woods of bay laurel, the popular tourist spot offers relative  tranquillity for anyone visiting the region, though there remains the usual mix of bars, beaches and opportunities to cruise Croatia via the nearby Adriatic sea.

Dubrovnik is the more recognised of the two, with a variety of established clubs on hand for the house music maniacs among you.

Similarly steeped in history, the city is likely to gain further recognition among US television fans as filming for the fantasy series King of Thrones continues in the city.

While either location is likely to provide plenty of settings for a champagne moment this new year, summer is likely to bring the biggest treats,  making a Croatia holiday to Opatija or Dubrovnik an ideal Christmas present.
