'Biggest discotheque on the planet' coming to Split

Now in its third year, the 'Discotheque Riva' held in the Dalmatian city of Split could well live up to

its billing as the biggest discotheque on the planet.

Scheduled to take place on August 10th, the event sees this part of the city, which is a popular sightseeing location for Croatia holiday visitors, transformed into a vivid celebration of techno, house and rave music.

Last summer saw 17,000 visitors descend on the city, with acts like Freddie Le Grand providing the tunes as guests partied until the break of dawn.

The unique disco event is quite literally a 24 hour party, with top acts set to perform around the clock at this extraordinary showing of non-stop trance and dance tracks.

No word has yet been given on who will perform at this year's event, with the line-up set to be revealed next week. However, with previous years seeing artists of the calibre of UK favourites Faithless, this is not one to miss.

Though only spanning a single day, the festival could prove the ideal excuse to plan a sailing holiday in Croatia. After all, the city itself sits perfectly on the Dalmatian coast, meaning the opportunity to embark on one of the many Croatia tours, available by boat, could be too much to resist.

These Adriatic cruises could perfectly complement the hectic partying of the Discotheque Riva, with guests invited to sit back and chill on one of the many boats exploring the countless islands situated off Croatia's western coast.

With plenty of shade, cool drinks and top tunes on hand to enjoy during these sea-based adventures, not to mention the close proximity of the sea for a spot of swimming, this could be the ideal way to get the party started, or even wind down after the main event.
