People on Croatia cycle holidays will not be the only ones seeing the sights of the country on two wheels this year, with a marathon race set to be held in the Istria region.

The Istria MTB Tartufi Tour will take place along the Parenzana route in northern Croatia from September 25th to 27th.

Competitors ride along a track that once served as a railroad line, providing a link between 33 locations on the Istrian peninsula.

The race carries world rating points for the leading cyclists, meaning that it regularly attracts some of the sport's top international competitors.

People interested in taking their own bike tour of Dalmatia can set off on a Croatia sail and cycle holiday and visit locations such as Split, Makarska and Hvar.

Travellers planning Croatia sailing holidays can also visit the Istria region in the north before setting off on an Adriatic cruise from the port of Opatija.
