Croatia holidays: Barca could visit Split

Croatia holidays: Barca could visit Split People planning Croatia sailing holidays are not the only ones who could be paying a visit to the Adriatic coast in the near future, with Spanish football side FC Barcelona reportedly considering a trip to Split.

The reigning European champions have been invited to the city for a friendly game against local side Hajduk Split, the Croatian Times reports.

Spanish marketing firm Mediapro recently met with mayor Zeljko Kerum and Pere Guardiola - the brother of Barcelona head coach Pep Guardiola - to discuss the plans.

Mr Guardiola was positive in his comments regarding the meeting, indicating that football fans are in with a good chance of seeing the La Liga side during a Croatia holiday.

"Barcelona will come so everything must be done right," he said. "The project is demanding and there are many questions to be addressed, but we are on the right path."

News provider 24 Sata reported that Split is one of two cities currently in the running to host Barcelona.

In the meantime, people planning Croatia sailing holidays can arrange a visit to Split to see permanent attractions such as Diocletian's Palace.ADNFCR-2466-ID-19724028-ADNFCR
