Sample sweet chestnuts on a Croatia holiday Travellers enjoying Croatia holidays this autumn might be interested in checking out an event that has been listed by the Observer as one of the top ten autumn food festivals in Europe.

The town of Lovran on the Opatija riviera will host the Marunada Festival from October 15th to 17th.

Arranged to celebrate the sweet chestnuts that grow in the area, the festival features an array of stalls that are set up along the narrow streets of Lovran and the nearby villages of Liganj and Dobre.

According to Observer writer Nicola Iseard, people visiting the event during a Croatia holiday will be able to sample chestnut honey, ice cream and various other culinary creations, as well as special dishes at local restaurants.

Visitors can also head to Brajdice square on October 16th to enjoy entertainment provided by brass bands and folk dancers.
