Croatia holidays: National event to celebrate museums

The diverse range of museums on offer to travellers during Croatia holidays is being showcased and celebrated at a special event taking place today (January 21st).

Night of the Museums 2011 will get underway at 18:00 and will include participation from about 70 cultural institutions and attractions across the country.

It is organised by the Croatian Museum Society in cooperation with the venues taking part.

According to the tourist board representing Split - one of the most fascinating and exciting cities for holidaymakers to visit during an Adriatic cruise - interest in this year's Night of the Museums event is "extraordinary".

The organisation pointed out that the occasion provides an opportunity to underline the importance of museums as a central part of the country's visitor offering.

People planning to see Split during a Croatia holiday can visit attractions such as the Mestrovic Gallery and the Archaeological Museum, while Dubrovnik is home to museums exploring the city's maritime heritage and the Croatian War of Independence.
