Brits vote Croatia holidays fourth most popular

Croatia is becoming an increasingly popular holiday destination among British families, new figures show.

According to a poll conducted by I Spy Camping, Croatia was chosen as the fourth most popular holiday spot for UK families.

The survey's results also suggest that British holidaymakers are increasingly seeing Croatia as a destination for outdoors adventure-based activities.

Other popular destinations with British tourists include traditional time-honoured choices such as France, Italy and Spain, with areas such as Brittany, the Vendee and Charente Maritime chosen as ideal camping spots.

The report found that travel trends this year were similar to 2010 in that many holidaymakers generally chose to take their vacations in countries closer to home.

The survey's findings are supported by data from the Croatian Statistics Office, which show that the popularity of Croatia holidays has increased significantly in recent months.

According to the office's data, the number of tourists arriving in July was 5.2 per cent higher than the figure recorded during the same month in 2010.
