Tourist Board chief hails Zagreb as "city of science and culture"

Tourist Board chief hails Zagreb as city of science and culture Zagreb has been hailed as "a city of science and culture" for Croatia holidays by its tourist board chief executive officer Amelia Tomasevic.

Her comments came after Zagreb airport reported a rise of nearly eight per cent for arrivals in August, compared with 2010 figures, as more vacationers opted for a Croatia holiday.

Ms Tomasevic pointed to the array of scientific and cultural attractions on offer for holidaymakers in the Croatian capital.

"The city has approximately fifty museums and galleries, as well as private art collections and about twenty theatres and musical venues," she said.

Herparticular favourites included the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Strossmayer Gallery of Old Masters.

The latter was voted one of the top ten things to do in Zagreb by the Lonely Planet travel guide.

However, Ms Tomasevic was keen to stress that much of the appeal of a Croatia holiday in the city was the opportunity it presented to discover "all the wonderful surprises Zagreb has for them on every corner".
