Hvar leader voted Croatia 'best mayor'

The Croatia holiday destination of Hvar has made national headlines once again, after its mayor Pjerino Bebic was recognised at the Days of Croatia tourism awards.

Held last Friday October 21st, the awards saw Hvar gain further acclaim as a top destination for vacationers and sailing holidays in Croatia.

Hvar cruises represent one of the most popular activities for visitors to the region, with the Croatian city offering a stunning coastline for travellers to explore.

The award to mayor Bebic came following a summer in which Hvar has gained notable praise for its friendly and accommodating service for Croatia holiday visitors.

Speaking in an interview with the politika website, Mr Bebic described the award as "a reward to all fellow citizen of the city of Hvar".

"When someone wants a fairytale holiday we will do anything to get his first thought is Hvar," he said.

The news comes hot on the heels of an award from Croatian newspaper Vecernji that recognised Hvar as the Champions of Croatian tourism for 2011, last month.
