Dolphin visits could add to Croatia sailing experience

Dolphin visits could add to Croatia sailing experience The sighting of a Dolphin in the coastal town of Kastela near Split has highlighted the array of sea life that could be discovered during a sailing holiday in Croatia.

Situated along the popular Dalmatian coast, the town of Kastela, like many of the cities spread across the region, boasts an impressive array of marine life.

The latest case saw a father and son from Kastela spot a dolphin, which had become stranded along the Dalmatian coast.

Speaking to newspaper 24sata, Josip Rajcic Bale said: "We were just rushing along the coast at Kastela … when we saw a fin in the sea. It was a dolphin, 1.5 metres long.

"Fifteen or more years ago we used to see dolphins in Kastela Bay very often but since then more rarely."

The return of these wonderful sea creatures comes after Croatia enjoyed some of its hottest temperatures on record this summer.

The improved climate has already seen the return of a diverse mix of stunning sea creatures too, with one fisherman picking up a one-and-a-half metre long Crestfish during a Dubrovnik cruise this summer.

Monk seals have also been spotted along the Adriatic sea, which is quickly becoming a hotspot for exotic life.

All of which gives an extra dimension to any Croatia holiday in the region, with those embarking on Adriatic cruises given even more insight into the natural beauty of the Balkans nation.ADNFCR-2466-ID-801253680-ADNFCR
