Monk spotting Seal highlights potential for sailing holidays in Croatia

Monk spotting Seal highlights potential for sailing holidays in Croatia The sighting of a Mediterranean monk seal in the Adriatic has further emphasised the opportunity to see rare natural wonders during a sailing holiday in Croatia.

According to reports from Croatian Times, sailors enjoying an Adriatic cruise in the northern region of Kamenjak spotted the unique sea creature last week.

Mediterranean monk seals are one of the rarest yet most beautiful creatures to be found in the Adriatic sea.

Experts estimate there are around 20 monk seals currently living in the Adriatic sea.

The Monk Seal is traditionally found in the Mediterranean Sea, but recent years have seen more of the animals return to the Adriatic, where they once lived hundreds of years ago.

Today, sightings of the monk seal are becoming increasingly common for those on a Croatia holiday, with two sightings in the last six months.

Other exotic sea life has also been spotted in the region, with a dolphin found just off the Adriatic coast.

These sightings provide an extra reason to consider a Croatia cruise, with plenty of opportunities to witness stunning wildlife alongside stunning temperatures and beautiful Balkan beach locations.ADNFCR-2466-ID-801259529-ADNFCR
