Croatia holidays offer great value for money
A Croatia holiday, with a trip to a music festival thrown in, could offer better value for money than a visit to Spain. That is according to the latest Royal Mail Travel Survey, which ranked Croatia ahead of Spain for providing a low-cost holiday this summer.
The cheaper holiday offerings in the Balkans could not come at a better time, in truth, with UK residents continuing to feel the pinch amid the continued problems of the economy.
Cutting back on expenditure has therefore been a common practice among those aged 20 to 30, with holidays one of the primary options to reduce spending on.
All may not be lost for those seeking sun, sea, sand and adventure though, according to the Post Office list.
The survey indicated that a tourist visiting the region could purchase a cup of coffee, a beer, a fizzy drink, a large bottle of mineral water, insect repellent, sunscreen, cigarettes and a three-course dinner for two, all for under 70 euros (£58).
All of which could add to the increase allure of sailing holidays in Croatia, which have emerged as a popular visiting pastime among UK travellers in recent years.
Embarking on trips up and down the Dalmatian coast, these sailing trips provide holidaymakers with the opportunity to soak up and the sun and sea, with drinks and tunes on hand throughout.
Offering holidaymakers the chance to discover more of this unique country, they will also meet like-minded travellers eager to enjoy the party atmosphere on this eclectic voyage.
As if that wasn't enough, the country is boasting a range of impressive festivals, that can be combined with a Croatia cruise for a truly bespoke and most importantly low cost holiday experience.
The ABTA recently highlighted the low cost experience of a trip to Outlook festival, with weekend tickets on sales for £135 and the average price of a pint of beer set at £1.65.
With local delicacies like Cevapici meat balls also available to enjoy, the last weekend in August could prove an ideal time to visit.
Victoria Bacon ABTA Head of Communications said: "There are now many specialist tour operators providing bespoke festival holidays that enable you to protect your money and ensure you avoid scams.
"Ticket prices in Europe are often much lower than the UK and food and beer can be a lot cheaper too."
