Hvar is a Croatia holiday must for nautical enthusiasts, says expert

A trip to the coastal haven of Hvar is an essential destination for anyone seeking a memorable sailing holiday in Croatia, according to a leading European travel expert.

Nadine Hallak issued the advice during a recent interview aheadof this week's (April 17th) Croatia Boat Show. Ms Hallak is one of the leading experts at cheapflights.co.uk, which has been providing advice on flight deals across Europe since 1996.

She was speaking  as Croatia sailing enthusiasts geared up for the boat show, which begins tomorrow and runs until April 22nd, with some of the newest models of yachts and sailing boats set to feature at the gala event, which is the biggest of its kind in the region.

Much of this has to do with the enduring appeal of a Croatia cruise that comes courtesy of the country's iconic Dalmatian coast.

Running up and down the popular west coast of the Balkans nation, the soft sandy beaches and Mediterranean temperatures of the summer months combine perfectly with the cool blue waters of the Adriatic sea to create as close to a sailing paradise as you are likely to find in Europe.

More importantly for anyone considering a trip to Croatia, the region represents one of the most cost effective travel options available this summer thanks to the low cost of food and drink in the Balkans and the favourable exchange rate enjoyed by the country, which has yet to sign on to the single European currency.

But while the Croatia coastline offers a wealth of sights and cities for holidaymakers to enjoy, for Ms Hallak, few come close to the experience provided by a trip to Hvar.

"Hvar is probably the most popular destination for nautical enthusiasts, and sailing the peaceful waters near the town is rated among the most popular activities to try while there," she said.

"There are plenty of small islands dotted around the area including the Pakleni islands, where a swim is practically irresistible."

Ms Hallak also recommended a trip to the secluded island of Vis, which offered a number of secluded places to "enjoy a quiet lunch".
