Croatia a booming holiday destination, figures reveal

Croatia a booming holiday destination, figures reveal Croatia holidays are booming with the number of foreign visitors to the country's sunny shores steadily rising.

There was an impressive five per cent increase in the number of overseas tourists for the period between January and July, suggesting more savvy travellers are aware of the fun to be had along the Adriatic coast.

The latest statistics from the Croatian Ministry of Tourism revealed there were 5.8 million foreign arrivals to the nation over the seven-month period.

One of the best ways to enjoy this serene European paradise is with a Croatia cruise that allows you to take in everything it has to offer.

There was a particular influx of tourists from the US and Canada, with a total of 125,282 arrivals from the North American countries.

As such, there was an almost 15 per cent increase in tourists from these nations, illustrating the spiralling popularity of Croatia.

Director of the Croatian National Tourist Office in New York Andreja Cvitkovic, described the results as "excellent".

And it seems the attraction of Croatia holidays is extending to political figures from across Europe, with a number of prominent personalities basking in the Balkan sun.

According to a report by the Croatian Times, the former president of Serbia Boris Tadic is just one of many politicians enjoying a break here in recent weeks.

He touched down on the stunning island of Vis, paving the way for many European representatives to lap up the good weather.

For the third year in a row, the governments of Austria and Czech Republic will be enjoying their holidays in Croatia.

Slovenia's minister of science and education is set to live it up while holidaying in Dalmatia, with Sweden's minister of foreign affairs also intent on a break to Korcula.

No doubt Mr Tadic had plenty of time to taste the juicy citrus fruits Vis is famed for, not to mention its copious paradise-like palm trees and fishing hubs.ADNFCR-2466-ID-801428717-ADNFCR
