Play some water polo on your Croatia holiday

There's a whole range of great water sports to enjoy during a sailing holiday in Croatia, thanks to the tranquil conditions of the cool blue waters along the Adriatic coast.

But one of the more interesting activities that people will be enjoying in their droves for the rest of the summer is likely to be water polo, after the country won its first ever gold in the event at the Olympics.

Croatia defeated Italy by a margin of eight goals to six for the men's gold on Sunday (August 12th), the final day of the London Olympics Games.

And in doing so, they may have sparked a new national craze for the sport, which is actually much harder than you might think. But it's also incredibly rewarding too!

The gold represents a great success for Croatia's water polo team whose previous best was silver at the Atlanta Games in 1996.

They had one of the strongest teams throughout the entire tournament and, with the players targeting further medals in the future, the popularity of the sport is likely to grow in Croatia as a result.

So why not take a dip in the sea water while you're moored along the beautiful sandy coast and give it a go with some of the other guests on your sailing holiday?

It's a great way to spend an afternoon and will help you work up a big appetite, so you really enjoy an evening of fine dining.

Just make sure to save some energy back so you have enough left in the tank to enjoy Croatia's famed night life, which is at its active best along the Adriatic coast.
