Croatia looking for more holiday visitors

Croatia sailing trips and other holidays in the country could become a more popular option this year following the launch of a new promotional campaign.

The initiative is being led by the national tourist board and will be showcased on the Welcome to Croatia website, which provides information and inspiration for people planning to visit the country.

Niko Bulic, head of the tourist board, said the internet would be "the main instrument" to communicate the messages of the campaign to consumers, the AFP news agency reports.

Tourism minister Damir Bajs said that the country is hoping to encourage people to take Croatia sailing holidays and other trips rather than visit alternative European holiday destinations.

"Our main goal for this season is to be equal or better than our competition," he said.

One of the advantages of Croatia sailing holidays this year will be affordability, with International Currency Exchange recently saying that the country offers "fantastic value for money".
