Croatia sailing trips 'should take in heritage sites'

Croatia sailing trips should take in heritage sites Croatia sailing holidays and other trips to the country shouldinclude visits to some of its Unesco World Heritage sites, according to an article published by online travel magazine Travelinator.

The rich and fascinating history of Croatia is represented by many of its old buildings and towns, several of which have been designated as World Heritage sites.

One location worth visiting during Croatia sailing holidays is Dubrovnik, which features on the Unesco list as a result of its historic churches, monasteries, palaces and fountains.

The city was damaged by an earthquake in 1667 and by other events over the years but is now the subject of a restoration programme being led by Unesco.

Another World Heritage site that can be incorporated into Croatia sailing holidays is the Diocletian Palace area in Split, which was built between the late third and early fourth centuries.

Both Dubrovnik and Split feature on many of Sail Croatia's most popular cruises.

Those planning to visit the northern part of the country during their Croatia holidays can head to Porec in the Istria region to see a collection of historic religious monuments.ADNFCR-2466-ID-19224682-ADNFCR
