UK summer washout likely to boost demand for Croatian sailing holidays
Demand for Croatian sailing holidays is expected to soar as Britons ditch plans for a 'staycation' and instead head overseas for some summer sun. Over recent months, numerous travel experts have predicted that a majority of UK holidaymakers would opt to take a break at home due to a combination of economic uncertainty and an expected Great British heatwave for the duration of the summer.
However, with the Met Office now admitting that the heatwave may never appear, with August likely to bring rain as well as sun, ABTA - The Travel Association has stated it expects to see a rise in overseas holiday bookings, with Croatian sailing holidays likely to be one of the safest bets when it comes to good weather.
The travel industry organisation noted: "Over the last two years Britain suffered some of the worst summer weather on record and ABTA members saw a surge in bookings in August with people desperate to escape the downpours."
In comparison to the unreliable British weather, visitors stopping off in Split on a Croatian sailing holiday can expect to enjoy an average temperature of 29.5 degrees Celsius in August.
