Writing for the Independent, John Walsh described the picturesque locations as 'isles of light' in the Adriatic Sea.

During his journey, the writer encountered what he describes as "beautiful surroundings" and "sheer luxury".

While he acknowledged that Hvar, Brac and Vis - which were described as "the Groovy Islands" - form a natural group, the writer went in search of lesser-known locations during his trip.
