Croatia holiday sector 'holding up well in recession'

Croatia holiday sector holding up well in recession The Croatia holiday industry is reportedly performing well despite the pressures of the global economic crisis and recession.

Tourism minister Damir Bajs announced figures showing that there was a five per cent fall in the number of people taking Croatia holidays in the first seven months of the year and a three per cent drop in overnight stays.

Arrivals figures in the eastern European country are much stronger than those recorded in many other Mediterranean nations, the Croatian Times reports.

People planning to fly to Dubrovnik airport to begin Croatia sailing holidays in the future may also be interested to hear of plans to improve the hub.

Mr Bajs announced measures to assist the airport in its operations after it was revealed that some 90 per cent of tourists arrive in Croatia by car or bus.

Dubrovnik is a highly popular starting point for Croatia sailing holidays and provides the opportunity to visit other destinations such as Korcula and Hvar.ADNFCR-2466-ID-19333879-ADNFCR
