Cycling holidays 'popular among Aussies'

Cycling holidays popular among Aussies Cycling holidays in Croatia and other countries are seen as a good way of exploring the great outdoors for Australian travellers, according to a survey.

Half (51 per cent) of the people surveyed by accommodation provider Wotif.com said that they would choose a cycling holiday as a way of spending time in the open air.

The research also uncovered the concerns that Australians have with regards to cycling holidays, with 20 per cent of respondents saying that being photographed in tight-fitting spandex was their worst holiday fear.

Nearly a quarter of Aussies would rather fall off their bike or sustain an injury than be snapped wearing skin-tight shorts, according to the survey.

"Some of the results that came through on this quirky survey gave us an interesting insight into what Aussies are looking for in a holiday," said Wotif.com general brand manager Megan Magill.

"Most people thought a cycling holiday was a great opportunity to spend time with family while getting fit at the same time, as opposed to some of the more traditional family holiday ideas which often include kids and parents doing their own thing."

Travellers who choose cycling holidays in Croatia can explore the great outdoors in destinations such as Split on the Adriatic coast and the islands of Hvar and Solta.ADNFCR-2466-ID-19387690-ADNFCR
