Croatia holidays: Archaeological find to be celebrated in Losinj

Croatia holidays: Archaeological find to be celebrated in Losinj Travellers might be interested in paying a visit to Losinj during Croatia sailing holidays this year to experience some special events on the island.

From April 24th to 27th, Losinj will celebrate the discovery of a statue of Apoxiomen, the ancient Greek athlete, near the island in 1999.

The bronze piece is one of only seven preserved statues of Apoxiomen in the world.

There will also be some gastronomic occasions celebrating Greek cuisine.

After being fully restored, the statue of Apoxiomen will be exhibited at Kvarner Palace in Mali Losinj from the end of 2010.

Travellers can pay a visit to the island of Losinj as part of a Croatia sailing holiday that sets off from the port of Opatija and also visits destinations such as Krk, Zadar and Cres.
