Croatia cruises receive 'excellence' award

Croatia cruises receive excellence award Croatia cruises recently received a strong endorsement at an event in Spain, according to reports.

The country was ranked alongside Turkey as one of the top sailing holiday destinations in 2009 by the Spanish Cruise News group.

Both nations were recognised at the Excellence Cruise Awards ceremony, the Croatian Times reports.

The newspaper also cited figures from the Central Bureau of Statistics illustrating the rising popularity of Croatia sailing holidays and Adriatic cruises in recent times.

Passenger numbers have doubled in the past four years, meaning the total number of people taking Croatia cruises last year increased to almost one million.

Travellers can arrange itineraries that include visits to some of the most popular destinations along the Adriatic coast, such as the cities of Dubrovnik and Split and the island of Hvar.

Croatia sailing holidays also offer the opportunity to try adventurous activities such as scuba diving and walking in the Biokovo mountains.
