Croatia holidays: Travellers urged to plan money in advance

Brits planning overseas breaks, such as Croatia sailing holidays, have been reminded of the importance of making travel money arrangements in advance.

According to foreign currency provider Caxton FX, people who resort to using credit cards during trips abroad are often stung by fees for overseas use.

The current financial climate has also led many providers to increase their interest rates, even for customers who stay within their limits and make repayments on time every month.

James Hickman, managing director of Caxton FX, said travellers are currently faced with a potentially difficult situation in financial terms, adding: "It's advisable that people heading overseas  plan their travel money in advance."

Mr Hickman also pointed out that the pound remains in a fairly weak position against currencies such as the euro.

People planning Croatia sailing holidays, however, do not need to worry about the sterling-to-euro exchange rate, as the country has its own currency, the kuna.

Travellers can choose Adriatic cruise routes that include stops in some of the most popular destinations on the Dalmatian coast, such as Dubrovnik, Split and Hvar.ADNFCR-2466-ID-19650962-ADNFCR
