Croatia holidays: Brits planning sun and beach getaways this year

Heading to the beach and enjoying some sun will be the main priority for British travellers this year, according to research, suggesting that overseas breaks such as Croatia sailing holidays could be a popular option.

Lloyds TSB carried out a survey of more than 2,000 UK consumers and found that relaxing on the beach is the biggest motivation for 45 per cent of people planning a trip in 2010.

Nearly a quarter (23 per cent) of people said they are looking forward to a city break, while five per cent intend to take a cruise.

Overall, 60 per cent of Brits plan to take a trip abroad, such as a Croatia holiday, over the coming year.

The research also found that a third of people have already booked their Adriatic cruises and other getaways they have in mindfor 2010.

Some 24 per cent of respondents to the Lloyds TSB poll said they are planning to make their holiday arrangements in the next few weeks.
