Croatia holidays 'offer simplicity and tranquility'

Croatia holidays offer a tranquil and relaxing experience, which means they are often popular among celebrities, it has been claimed.

Meri Matesic, UK and Ireland director of the Croatian National Tourist Board, said it is possible to summarise the destination in three words: "originality, simplicity and tranquility".

She added that the country's "natural wonders" and landscapes allow people on Croatia holidays to enjoy a sense of freedom and escape from their day-to-day concerns.

"It's two hours away from London and still you can keep your privacy, your tranquility, just enjoy the beauty and the great gastronomy," Ms Matesic said.

It was recently reported that Hollywood couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were planning to visit Dubrovnik during an Adriatic cruise this year.

Ms Matesic also revealed that Viggo Mortensen, star of the Lord of the Rings movie trilogy, recently took a Croatia holiday and visited the city of Pula in the Istria region.
