Croatia holidays prove popular in March

Croatia holidays prove popular in March The number of people taking Croatia holidays in March was 11 per cent higher than during the same period in 2009, new figures reveal.

Statistics released by the Croatian National Tourist Board show that 135,300 people visited destinations in the Adriatic region in the third month of 2010.

The figures also show a total of 401,000 overnight stays during Adriatic cruises and other trips in the region - a 16 per cent increase from last year, the Croatian Times reports.

More than half of the people that took Croatia holidays in March came from abroad, according to the tourist board.

In the first quarter of the year, the number of visitors to the country from overseas increased by eight per cent.

British travellers planning Adriatic cruises this year will have the opportunity to see the scenic hotspots of Dubrovnik and Split and absorb some culture at the cities' annual summer festivals.ADNFCR-2466-ID-19724938-ADNFCR
