Sample some local cuisine on a Croatia sailing holiday

Travellers taking Croatia sailing holidays this year could take advantage of a growing trend towards culinary tourism and sample some of the country's food.

Erik Wolf, president of the International Culinary Tourism Association, said that trying local cuisine is the one activity that almost all visitors to any destination are likely to be interested in.

He revealed that the popularity of gastronomic tours in foreign destinations has been steadily rising for some time.

"The awareness by tourist destinations of food tourism has been increasing for several years and that trend is only growing," Mr Wolf said.

"These organisations realise that food and drink are the only tourism products that all visitors enjoy. Not everyone shops, attends the theatre or golfs, but everyone eats."

People planning Croatia sailing holidays this year might be interested in stopping off in the vibrant city of Dubrovnik to visit some of its restaurants, which are known for their fresh seafood and meat dishes.
