Croatia 'one of a handful of great budget destinations'
A Croatia holiday is one of the few genuine budget destinations still available to those using sterling, according to one industry commentator.Scotwest Credit Union has found that over nine in ten of its members plan to go on holiday this year, despite tightening budgets, Herald Scotland has reported.
Nearly seven out of ten want to go abroad, with non-eurozone destinations becoming increasingly popular.
One of the most popular destinations is Croatia, where £1 buys eight kuna.
Speaking to the paper, M&S money manager James Yerkess said: "Our figures show that there are only a handful of currencies where British tourists will get more for their money when exchanging cash compared to last summer.
"They include the increasingly popular tourist destinations of Bulgaria and Croatia."
He also warned that those going to eurozone destinations will still find pricesexpensive.
"Although sterling has increased in strength against the euro in the past few months, tourists will still find destinations within the eurozone relatively expensive when paying for everyday items, particularly with high levels of inflation in certain countries."
A Croatia holiday could give that holiday lift, without costing the earth.
