Croatia holiday 'perfect for honeymooners'

Croatia holiday perfect for honeymooners A Croatia holiday could be perfect for those wanting an unusual honeymoon.

In this week's New York Times blog, Rusha Haljuci advises one newly married reader who asks about what itinerary to take on their Croatia break.

According to the travel expert, Croatia is the "ideal" destination for starry-eyed lovers, as it has "Roman ruins, medieval castles and gorgeous coastline".

Ms Haljuci suggests that the couple fly to Zagreb and then to Dubrovnik – which is often called "the pearl of the Adriatic".

In the coastal city, she recommends seeing the Old Town, which has one of the oldest synagogues in Europe.

To really experience the region's diversity, it could be a good idea to see the Peljesac Peninusla, travel to Ston, Mali Ston and take in a beach or two at Orebic.

Earlier this year, research from 101honeymoons.co.uk found that the traditional beach holiday was becoming less popular with couples.

Couples were instead looking out for more exciting options, including city breaks and activity holidays.
