'Do the smart thing' with a Croatia holiday

Holiday makers looking for a holiday destination that is affordable yet exciting could consider Croatia.

A recent report from the International Currency Exchange found that British travellers could get the most for their money in Croatia and Bulgaria.

However, those willing to get off the beaten track in order to save money should still try and get as much as they can with smaller budgets.

Writing in the Daily Mail, travel expert Frank Barrett tells readers that the best trick is to "play it canny.

"Don't go for the cheapest of the cheapest - the biggest source of holiday complaints is that people find an inexpensive holiday cheap and nasty, not cheap and cheerful."

Travellers could find that opting for a Croatia sailing or cycling holiday could be a great opportunity to have an adventure in a destination where traditional holiday pleasures are also affordable.

Mr Barrett added: "The smart thing to do is to use the price-cutting frenzy to trade up and enjoy the sort of holiday that would hitherto have been out of your league."
