Foreigners show high demand for Croatia holidays

Foreigners show high demand for Croatia holidays Croatia holidays have been a popular option among international travellers this year, new figures suggest.

Information released by the Central Bureau of Statistics indicates that foreigners accounted for almost 85 per cent of visits and 89.6 per cent of overnight stays in the European country in the first seven months of 2010.

The figures represent an increase of 6.3 per cent from the same period in 2009, the Croatian Times reports.

While Adriatic cruises and other breaks in the country have been popular among foreigners, the number of domestic tourists has dropped by 6.7 per cent from last year's figures.

July was one of the most successful months for the tourism industry, with a 12 per cent year-on-year increase in visitor numbers.

Travellers planning a Croatia holiday over the coming weeks or next summer should not miss the opportunity to see the spectacular walled city of Dubrovnik and visit idyllic islands such as Hvar and Korcula.ADNFCR-2466-ID-800070008-ADNFCR
