Croatia holidays 'increasingly popular'

Croatia holidays increasingly popular With every airport in Croatia reporting passenger growth during the month of August, it suggests Croatia holidays are becoming an increasingly attractive option among those keen to get away for a spot of sun.

Zadar and Dubrovnik airports saw the biggest increase in passenger numbers during August, handling 56,624 and 259,638 respectively, Balkans.com reports.

This marks an increase of 21.7 per cent for Dubrovnik and a massive 34.9 per cent for Zadar, which saw the biggest rise in the whole country.

In total, the nation’s three main airports, Zagreb, Split and Dubrovnik – which could be used as a base for sailing holidays in Croatia – welcomed a total of 737,014 passengers throughout the popular summer months.

Meanwhile, Pula airport dealt with a more modest increase in holidaymakers, handling a total of 78,996 passengers at an increase of 2.9 per cent.

August proved to be a record-breaking month for Dubrovnik airport – suggesting Croatia holidays in this region are particularly popular – with the capital city beating its August 1987 record for passenger numbers.
