Try horse riding on a Croatian holiday

Try horse riding on a Croatian holiday Horse riding could prove to be a budget-friendly option for families heading off on a holiday to Croatia.

The Eastern European country's tourist board advises saddling up and jumping on a four-legged friend can be a fun-filled option for all the family, and it may make a land-based change for the those on Croatian sailing holidays.

Lynne Munro, chair of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Therapeutic Riding, explains there is no need for holidaymakers to waste a lot of money on equipment, as the only essential items are a safety helmet, boots with a heel and a pair of jodhpurs, which can all be hired.

She says: "For the rest of it, you don't need lots of fancy equipment. You just need to be comfortable."

According to the Croatian National Tourist Board, the destinations of Istria and Dalmatia have the most suitable terrains in the country for beginners wishing to enjoy a spot of horse riding.
