Dubrovnik region popular with Brits

Dubrovnik region popular with Brits Visitors from Great Britain, France and Germany taking Croatia holidays contributed to the Dubrovnik and Neretva County's strong tourist season, the latest statistics show.

The three groups made up the largest number of overnight stays, along with above-average totals from Polish, Slovenian, Russian, Spanish and Norwegian tourists, the Croatian Times has reported.

In September 135,511 tourists visited the county, seven per cent up on last year.

A total of 647,602 overnight stays were representing a rise of nine per cent against 2009.

There were 942,224 visitors and 4.68 million overnight stays in 2010, suggesting Croatia holidays are becoming increasingly popular.

Hotels saw more than 2.5 million overnight stays, which is an increase of ten per cent on last year and private accommodation also saw an increase of ten per cent over last year, while camps saw a five per cent increase.
