Island development could offer more Croatia holiday options

Island development could offer more Croatia holiday options Travellers planning Croatia sailing holidays could have a new destination to visit in future if a proposed tourism development goes ahead.

A group of ten entrepreneurs have presented a €40 million (£33.5 million) investment plan to create new amenities on the island of Ugljan, reports the Croatian Times, citing daily business newspaper Poslovni Dnevnik.

The proposal focuses on the Kukljica district and includes the development of marinas and other facilities that could provide new options and experiences for travellers on Croatia sailing trips.

Initially put forward two years ago, the plan has been on hold as a result of the global economic downturn.

However, the success of Croatia's tourism industry this summer has led to the would-be investors rekindling their interest in the project.

Ugljan is part of an archipelago located just off the coast of Zadar, one of many historic and fascinating cities travellers can currently visit during an Adriatic cruise.ADNFCR-2466-ID-800053313-ADNFCR
