Croatia holidays: Pope Benedict set to visit next year

Croatia holidays: Pope Benedict set to visit next year British travellers planning Adriatic cruises will not be the only ones enjoying the experiences on offer during a Croatia holiday next year, with Pope Benedict XVI set to visit the country.

The leader of the Catholic Church is planning a trip to Croatia on June 4th and 5th 2011.

While earlier announcements confirmed the papal visit, the exact dates of the event have only just been revealed, the Croatian Times reports, citing daily newspaper Jutarnji List.

One of the main themes of the religious figure's tour will be the importance of the family.

Earlier this year, Pope Benedict XVI paid a visit to the UK, during which he met the prime minister and was entertained by Britain's Got Talent star Susan Boyle.

His planned trip to Croatia next year could interest people planning Adriatic cruises, who might also want to visit holy sites in the country such as the churches of St Blaise in Dubrovnik and St Duje in Split.ADNFCR-2466-ID-800243427-ADNFCR
