Croatia holidays: Tourism to boost regional development

Croatia holidays: Tourism to boost regional development Travellers embarking on Adriatic cruises and other Croatia holidays will be making a contribution to the development of the country and its surrounding region, with the United Nations recently highlighting the importance of tourism for south-eastern Europe.

Hosting a seminar in Albania, the UN World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) said that the industry has the potential to boost economic growth and create new jobs.

It also has the potential to provide economic benefits for remote parts of south-eastern Europe, a region that includes Croatia, Montenegro and Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Taleb Rifai, secretary-general of the UNWTO, said: "In the face of a prolonged period of high unemployment, tourism can create jobs, particularly in remote regions, and is by far one of the best development opportunities for those regions that are emerging, as is the case of eastern Europe.

"This region can benefit immensely from further regional cooperation."

People planning Croatia holidays can visit various destinations in the country, such as Dubrovnik, Hvar and Makarska, and also arrange day trips to other nearby locations such as the city of Mostar in Bosnia-Herzegovina.ADNFCR-2466-ID-800259855-ADNFCR
