Make the most of local cuisine on a Croatia cruise

Make the most of local cuisine on a Croatia cruise Travellers enjoying Croatia cruises will be able to ensure they experience genuine local cuisine following the launch of a new certification scheme.

Plaques reading 'Hrvatska kuhinja', or 'Croatian kitchen', will be displayed outside eateries that serve authentic regional dishes.

Customers eating in a restaurant carrying one of the signs can be sure that at least 70 per cent of the cuisine on the establishment's menu comes from national recipes, the Croatian Times reports, citing daily newspaper Vecernji List.

The tourism ministry is currently finalising the list of meals that will be certified by the programme to ensure that people on Adriatic cruises and other breaks are able to sample true local food.

More than 1,000 recipes are thought to have been submitted for review following the launch of the initiative.

People planning to visit cities such as Dubrovnik and Split during Croatia cruises can choose from numerous restaurants, while those heading to more remote locations can try the food on offer at local cafes and bistros.ADNFCR-2466-ID-800288147-ADNFCR
