Latest figures show popularity of Croatia holidays
Croatia holidays were a highly popular option this year, with the country experiencing stronger growth than other destinations in the Mediterranean, according to recent figures.Statistics announced at a meeting of the Commission for Tourism in Zagreb last weekend showed that the industry expanded by 4.5 per cent in the third quarter of 2010.
This places it ahead of Europe and the Mediterranean region, which reported growth of 2.6 per cent and 2.1 per cent respectively, the Croatian Times reports, citing daily newspaper Jutarnji List.
In November alone, there was a 7.6 per cent year-on-year increase in the number of travellers arriving in the country for Adriatic cruises and other getaways.
The rate of growth for foreign travellers arriving in Croatia was particularly strong - 14.3 per cent.
As well as seeing the country's scenic cities, coastal villages and islands, people taking Adriatic cruises can arrange day trips to other fascinating locations such as Mostar in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
