Visit 'beautiful' Montenegro during a Croatia holiday

Travellers considering a Croatia holiday this year will have the opportunity to arrange a Balkan road trip to see Montenegro, a destination that has received a glowing review from Archie Thomas in the Telegraph.

The writer referred to a quote from Lord Byron, who summed up the coastal region of the Gulf of Kotor as "the most beautiful encounter between land and the sea".

People arranging road trips during their Croatia holidays will have the opportunity to see the walled city of Kotor, which Mr Thomas compared to the Adriatic cruise hotspot of Dubrovnik.

During his visit, the Telegraph correspondent "whiled away a whole day in the labyrinthine streets, happy to be lost in churches and laid-back cafes".

Visitors can also sample some Montenegrin cuisine, such as 'kacamak' (buttered potato with corn meal and cheese) and 'kobasice' (smoked sausages).

Montenegro is one of many countries that travellers can visit as part of a journey through the region, along with Bosnia, Albania and Slovenia.
