Anthony Hopkins plans relaxing Croatia holidays

Anthony Hopkins looks set to do plenty of relaxing during future Croatia holidays.

The esteemed British actor has purchased a villa in the scenic Istria region on the country's north-west coast, reports the Croatian Times, citing daily newspaper Jutarnji List.

Hopkins is thought to have bought the property as a retreat where he can relax with his family.

While the exact location of the 73-year-old's new home has been kept secret, it is thought to be near the small town of Groznjan.

The movie star - who is arguably best known for his portrayal of cannibalistic psychopath Hannibal Lecter in The Silence of the Lambs - should have no trouble relaxing in Istria, which is a popular Croatia holiday destination owing to its beautiful scenery and coastline.

Travellers planning Adriatic cruises can explore the area before setting sail from Opatija on an itinerary visiting fascinating islands and cities such as Krk, Zadar and Rab.
