Croatia holidays: Locals encouraged to fly from Southampton

Croatia holidays: Locals encouraged to fly from Southampton Travellers based in and around Southampton are being encouraged to catch flights from their local airport.

People planning Croatia holidays and other trips abroad could benefit from a shorter overall journey time if they set off from Southampton airport rather than one of the larger London bases, according to operating company BAA.

A campaign has been launched targeting passengers in north Hampshire, Berkshire and Surrey who currently head to airports such as Gatwick and Heathrow to embark on overseas breaks.

The promotion highlights a number of benefits on offer to people who decide to fly from Southampton for Croatia holidays and other trips, including short check-in times and convenient public transport links.

Jan Halliday, the airport's director of marketing and communications, said: "There are around 7.6 million people living within 90 minutes of Southampton airport and so this campaign aims to raise their awareness of our airport as a viable alternative to London, where they might usually head.

"With around 50 destinations and excellent road and rail links, heading south can often be a much quicker door-to-door experience with less stress."

Travellers planning Croatia tours and other adventures in the country this year can begin their journey by catching flights to Split from Southampton with Flybe.ADNFCR-2466-ID-800494738-ADNFCR
