Croatia tours: Travellers 'showing more interest in Balkans'

Croatia tours: Travellers showing more interest in Balkans Interest in the Balkans is reportedly on the rise, meaning Croatia tours could be popular this year.

In a report on the leading destinations for travel in summer 2011, flight comparison website Skyscanner revealed that the south-east European region is "booming".

Serbia climbed 11 places in the site's ranking of the top 100 countries for British travellers based on flight searches, while Bosnia-Herzegovina just made it onto the list in 100th place.

Macedonia and Kosovo also featured after attracting a higher number of enquiries from travellers.

Discussing some of the trends for the summer season, Skyscanner said: "With a choice of city breaks, stunning coastline and mountain retreats, the Balkan region is evidently increasing its appeal to British visitors looking for somewhere different and offering good value for money."

Croatia holidays provide the opportunity to see several destinations in the region during Balkan road trips, such as the Bosnian cities of Mostar and Sarajevo.

Skyscanner also revealed that Croatia itself has been seeing more interest from UK travellers and is now the tenth most popular summer destination, meaning Adriatic cruise hotspots such as Dubrovnik and Split could welcome a higher number of Brits this summer.ADNFCR-2466-ID-800522373-ADNFCR
