Join the jolly team of river rafters and discover the Cetina River – the original pirates' nest. The Cetina, which runs from the hinterlands, through the mountains and out through the coastal town of Omis, housed the Med's most famous band of pirates. They were feared so much the surrounding settlements, including Dubrovnik, paid them off to stop the continued raids. For hundreds of years they thrived on holding for ransom the fat merchant ships ladened with goods passing up the coast on their way to Venice.
Today the Cetina is home to some light hearted white water rafting. You will be collected by mini-van and transported deep into the mountains where you can enjoy amazing views of this naturally green valley which offered natural protection to the pirates. The gorge is an ecological wonder of clear fresh water, exciting rapids and cooling waterfalls. Don your life jacket and helmet and take to water for 9km of winding river fun. On completion you will be transported back to the boats later in the evening.
Things to take: swimsuit, trainers, towel, dry clothes, suncream, drinking water. Items like sunglasses and cameras to be taken at your own risk as they are often lost.
Inclusions: Bus transfer to the Cetina river and return, guide/instructor, life jackets and helmets. 3 hrs rafting over 9 km.
Info: Bus from Omis to the canyon takes 30 mins. 3 hours of rafting. Return bus to Split departs at approx. 5.30pm and takes 30 mins. Class 2-3 rapids on the river.
