| Dubrovnik ranked in Top 40 cities for backpackers |

 Dubrovnik has been ranked above Barcelona in the Top 40 cities in Europe for backpackers – highlighting the benefits of
a Croatia holiday in the region.The newly updated European Backpacker Index 2012 lists the forty cheapest and best cities to visit in Europe on a budget. Dubrovnik's summer of success saw the Croatian city enter the chart for the first time, with the Index placing the Adriatic cruise destination at number 21. The ranking placed the city above Barcelona, with researchers praising it as a bargain for travellers "compared to similar beach resorts in Italy". Dubrovnik also finished above Munich, Milan and Amsterdam with reviewers adding that while it may lie in Eastern Europe "it’s worth going out of the way for, especially in season". The news is further evidence of the growing popularity of Dubrovnik as a Croatia holiday destination, thanks in no small part to the coastal location of the city, which makes it ideal for Adriatic cruises.  |
