| See 'beautiful' Dubrovnik on Croatia sailing holidays |
| Tuesday, 12 January 2010 16:59 |
Travellers taking Croatia sailing holidays this year have been encouraged to see some of Dubrovnik's historic buildings, which
have been described as "hauntingly beautiful".The city's walls and stone buildings carry "tell-tale signs" of the Croatian War of Independence, according to a travel article published on gulfnews.com. Writer Alex Westcott reports that areas affected by the conflict are currently being restored, meaning they will be easier for people on Croatia sailing holidays to see. According to the writer, Dubrovnik stands as "a reminder of the healing powers of time and sheer determination of a nation's people". As well as learning about the city's history, Mr Westcott explored the Placa, which he described as a "grand promenade", and saw local sights such as the clock tower and the Onofrio Fountain. People planning to visit Dubrovnik during Croatia sailing holidays were encouraged to take a walk along the city's walls and explore the Mediterranean-style streets, which are full of quaint buildings and bell towers. ![]() |
